The Australian Seafood Consumer Hotline is an initiative of the Australian Government to encourage the use of correct names for seafood sold in Australia.
If you see any seafood product you think is being mislabeled, please report it to the Australian Seafood Consumer Hotline on 1800 737 147.
Your call will be answered during business hours, Mon-Fri 8.30am - 5.00pm, After hours, leave a message which will be followed up the next business day.
The hotline assistant will ask for:
- Your name
- Contact details phone and email
- Details of complaint what was it labeled and what do you think it should have been labeled
- Time and date of suspected mislabeling
- Name and address of the place where the alleged mislabeling has occurred.
This information will be forwarded to the relevant authority in your state for action. When requested the agency in your state will report back to you on action taken.
